41 – Linear Burn – Duplicate your image layer. Change the Blend Options for the top layer to Linear Burn. Adjust the opacity as needed.

42 – Screen – Duplicate your image layer. Change the Blend Options for the top layer to Screen. Adjust the opacity as needed.

43 – Overlay – Duplicate your image layer. Change the Blend Options for the top layer to Overlay. Adjust the opacity as needed.

44 – Soft Light – Duplicate your image layer. Change the Blend Options for the top layer to Soft Light. Adjust the opacity as needed.

47 – Difference (Blue Channel) – Make sure you have your image layer selected. Go to Channels. Select the Blue Channel. Select all (CTRL-A), select the RGB Channel, then Paste (CTRL-V). Go back to the Layer menu, and you should see a new layer on top of your image layer. Change the Blend Options for this new layer to Difference. Adjust the opacity as needed.

49 – Red Channel (Overlay) – Make sure you have your image layer selected. Go to Channels. Select the Red Channel. Select all (CTRL-A), select the RGB Channel, then Paste (CTRL-V). Go back to the Layer menu, and you should see a new layer on top of your image layer. Change the Blend Options for this new layer. For this example, we used Soft Light. Adjust the opacity as needed. Notice how different the results are if you use the Green or Blue channel instead?

53 – Vignette – The quickest way is to use the burn tool to darken the edges of the photograph. If you would like to be more accurate, use the Eliptical marque tool. Give the Feather a value (75 for larger images, 25 for smaller image) and draw a circle around your center of interest. Go to Select->Inverse to select the area around your center of interest. Go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer-> Curves. Modify the curves editor and you will see the edges of the photograph become darker.

54 – Dodge & Burn – You can use the dodge tool to brighten up and the burn tool to darken any part of the image

55 – Tone mapping Emulation –  First, convert your image to 32 Bit by going to Image->Mode->32 Bits/Channel. Next, convert your image back to 16 Bit by going to Image->Mode->16 Bits/Channel. This should bring up a HDR Conversion window. From the drop down menu, select Local Adaptation. Adjust the Toning Curve so that all the points pass through the dark part of the Histogram. Adjust the Radius and Threshold if desired. Click OK. Once you are finished, change your image back to 16 Bit by going to Image->Mode->16 Bits/Channel. If you want to save your image as a jpg, you will have to change your image to 8 Bit.

56 – Exposure Blend – Using our RAW file, we saved out 5 images with different exposures (+1.0, +0.5, 0, -0.5, -1.0) . In Photomatix, we used the exposure blend feature to create the final image.

57 – HDR (Obvious) – For best results, use multiple photographs for High Dynamic Range images. For the purposes of this tutorial, we have saved out 5 images from our RAW file with different exposures (+1.0, +0.5, 0, -0.5, -1.0). Using Photomatix, we combined the multiple exposures. For an obvious HDR image, change the Smoothing value to High or Max.

58 – HDR (Subtle) – For best results, use multiple photographs for High Dynamic Range images. For a subtle HDR, change the Smoothing value to Min or Low.

59 – Dragonizer – Download the Dragonizer plug-in and place it in your Photoshop plug-in folder. In Photoshop, run the Dragonizer Filter in the Actions Menu. Make sure you choose “For Smaller images” if your image is small (let’s say 1000 pixels wide or less) or “For Larger images” if your image is larger than 1000 pixels. Run the action and follow the step by step instructions.

60 – Dragonizer (Grunge Layer) – Download the Dragonizer plug-in and place it in your Photoshop plug-in folder. In Photoshop, run the Dragonizer Filter in the Actions Menu. Make sure you choose “For Smaller images” if your image is small (let’s say 1000 pixels wide or less) or “For Larger images” if your image is larger than 1000 pixels.Once it has run through all the steps, Hide all the layers except the “Grunge” layer. This will reveal the outlined image. Alternatively, step back in the History until you see the last Gaussian Blur.

61 – Dragonizer (Mask) – Download the Dragonizer plug-in and place it in your Photoshop plug-in folder. In Photoshop, run the Dragonizer Filter in the Actions Menu. Once you have completed the instructions, step back a few steps in the history until the Grunge layer appears. Use a Layer Mask to reveal the areas of the photo you would like in color.

62 – Topaz Adjust – For this example, we used the “Portrait Drama” preset. To be honest, this is just one of many different edits/looks you can achieve using Topaz Adjust. There is a fully functional 30 day free trial available, so why not give it a try.

63 – Infrared (IR) (Imitated) – *Disclaimer – This is not an actual Infrared image* Creating an infrared photograph requires a special camera and/or filters. We are simply imitating the process using a regular photograph. To start, go to Image->Adjustment->Hue/Saturation. Increase the saturation so that the sky and any water in the photograph look extra saturated. Duplicate the layer. With the top layer selected, go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Black & White.  Adjust the Red and Yellow sliders to give the grass and trees that fantasy white look.  Click on the Tint box, and give the photo a slight pink tint.  With the Black & White Layer Mask selected, use a black brush to paint back in the areas we want in color, such as the sky, and the water.

64 – Anaglyph (Imitated) – *Disclaimer – This is not an actual Anaglyph 3D image* That would require 2 photographs taken at offset positions. We are simply imitating the process using a single image to create something comparable. Take your image layer and duplicate it twice. For the top layer, change it to Black & White, apply a cyan Tint to it, then change the blending mode of the layer to Pin LightNudge this top layer over to the left by about 8 pixels (for a large size image). For the middle layer, change it to Black & White, apply a red Tint to it . Leave the blending mode as normal. Nudge this middle layer over to the right by about 8 pixels (for a large size image). For the bottom layer, change it to Black & White. You should now see something similar to the image above.
