If you shop online for H&M clothing, you will probably notice something different about the models in the photographs. Did Veena Malik Pose Nude for FMH or Is This Image Doctored?

Pakistani actress Veena Malik has caused quite a stir by posing nude on the cover of the India edition of FHM. Not only is it controversial because of the conservative views in Pakistan, but also for the fact that she claims that she never posed nude for the magazine and that the final image has been “doctored”. Contrary to her claims, FHM India’s editor Kabeer Sharma says the photoshoot was video recorded and he has proof the image has not been altered. I have my suspicions as to who is telling the truth, but I’ll keep my thoughts to myself until this story is fully played out.

Your Facebook Photos Are Not Private

It turns out that private photographs on Facebook are anything but. Yesterday some users discovered they could exploit a bug to access photographs which supposed to be private. To prove it was possible, they posted a handful of private photographs of Mark Zuckerberg. The problem has since been fixed, but it’s unclear how long private photographs were vulnerable for. Let this be a reminder that nothing you post online is ever 100% secure.

Time Covers with Opposite Messages

While it’s not unusual for magazines to publish different covers based on the varied interests of different cultures, some recent Time magazine covers made me stop and think. In Europe, Asia and the South Pacific the topic for a recent cover is “Revolution Redux” which talks about how people all over the world are fed up with how their countries are run, and have taken their voices to the streets. In sharp contrast, the cover of the Time magazine in the United States is titled “Why Anxiety is good for you.” The US has seen record debts and job losses recently. It sure looks like the American cover is trying to convince people it’s normal to have anxiety and that they should accept the hardships they are facing.

More and more, the world we see is one that has been chosen for us. I just want to make people aware so they can make their own judgements.

On a similar note, did you know that Google customizes user searches, meaning the information you receive will vary from user to user (based upon numerous factors such as computer type, country you live in, etc). Food for thought.
