Phantom Cocktails at 8900 FPS

Ty Migota was tasked with creating the opening credits for a film, so he grabbed a Phantom camera and had some fun with alcoholic beverages. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, he’s also introduced flames and explosions to the high speed footage.

Cameras That are Sweet Enough To Eat

While it’s a little too late to add this to our list of gifts for photographers, I still think this camera cookie cutter is pretty sweet (pun intended). Cut out the cameras using your favourite cookie recipe, add tasty icing and voila, you have miniature camera sweets. $17.95 gets you 3 camera cookie cutters, one SLR shape, one TLR shape, and one Rangefinder shape.

Allow Complete Strangers to Judge How Healthy Your Meals Are Using Photographs

This isn’t the first app we have seen that diagnoses the quality of your meal via photographs, but this one has a different approach. Simply take a photograph of your meal, and Eatery will share it with other users who are then tasked to rate the food you are eating. While it doesn’t track calories, or sodium or fat, it does track your eating habits, which could be an eye opener to people who think they are eating healthier than they really are.

With Halloween just around the corner, we thought we’d get you in the mood by showing you a video of pumpkins being smashed at 1000 fps. Don’t try this at home (or in your neighbourhood!)

"Back to the Start" Stop Motion Animation

I have been impressed by some of the recent advertising campaigns (1 , 2), but this stop motion video created for the restaurant chain Chipotle is quite possibly the best one yet. The advertisement features Willie Nelson signing the popular Coldplay song “The Scientist” and speaks about the sustainability of our food system.

Matthew B. Harrison, known as “The Leica Guy”, recently got married to Emily Therese, “The Leica Lady”. The night before the wedding they were given a special gift: a cake in the shape of a Leica M9 camera (not to be confused with the wedding cake). It’s not the first time we have shared photos of a camera cake, but I for one, never get tired of seeing them. Matthew also received a special Leica inspired ring as a gift from his Bride, which you can see after the break.

App That Counts Calories Via Photographs

Meal Snap is a new app that tells you what you are eating, as well as the calorie count, simply by analyzing a photograph of your meal. Sounds too good to be true? If you are looking for an exact calorie count, then you may be out of luck. However, if you are okay with a general estimate, then this app does a pretty good job.
