Piclings Game Let's You Use Photographs as Levels

Piclings is a new video game that has a very cool concept. Using the camera on your iPad or iPhone, you can take photographs and use them as the level in which you play. Not sure what that means? Watch the video after the break.

Black Design Associates have dreamed up a Leica camera body that allows you to insert your iPhone for easier use. The back opens up like a traditional film camera, in which the iPhone is inserted. Assuming they can account for future iPhone design changes, this might actually be feasible.

Photosynth, the popular software that stitches photographs together to form a complete scene, is now an iPhone app. The main difference between this, and other panoramic apps, is that you are able to do full 360 photographs looking in all directions (including up & down). It has very good reviews, and it’s free to download, so why not give it a try.

 

Postagram Prints & Ships Your Instagram Photos Directly From Your Phone

Postagram is an app that takes your Instagram photos, and sends them to your friends or family as a postcard. Simply choose a photo using the web, or your mobile device, add a custom message, and submit. The person on the receiving end gets a postcard with a photo that pops out. A great idea built upon an already used service.

 

App That Counts Calories Via Photographs

Meal Snap is a new app that tells you what you are eating, as well as the calorie count, simply by analyzing a photograph of your meal. Sounds too good to be true? If you are looking for an exact calorie count, then you may be out of luck. However, if you are okay with a general estimate, then this app does a pretty good job.

 

Camera+ Hits 2,000,000 Sales

There is lots of money to be made in photography apps, but only if you are at the top of pack. Camera+ recently released their numbers, and they are impressive: $1,833,722 to date in purchases plus $68.267 for in app purchases.

 

8 Bit Pocket Camera

If you are a gamer, you might recall the Gameboy camera accessory that was released in the late 90′s. Fast forward to present day, and there is now an iPhone app that creates similar photographs. So if you enjoyed the camera back in the day, but now carry a phone instead of a Gameboy, then this app might be right down your alley. It’s currently only $1 in the app store.

I am continually surprised by the ingenuity of photography related devices that keep appearing on crowdfunding sites. Introducing the GOPANO micro, a 360 degree lens for the iPhone 4. pic.me is an iPhone Case with a Kickstand

Word Lens App Translates Printed Words Instantly

Word Lens, by Quest Visual, is an app which instantly translates printed words from one language to another using the video camera on your iPhone. The most amazing part is that it does this real time. It also imitates the scene you are recording, making it very user friendly. It’s still in it’s early stages, as it can only translate English to Spanish or vice versa, but it is available for free in the iTunes store. A great application to have if you are traveling internationally! Requires iPhone 3GS or higher.
