What is it? A Silhouette is a person or a scene which has been lit from behind, resulting in a completely black outline.

What are they? Lines that draw the viewer’s attention through the photograph. They can be straight lines, curved lines, or even implied lines. They are often used to draw the viewer’s attention to the focal point.

What is it? Carefully compose your scene so that your subject takes up the entire (or majority) of the frame. Make sure you choose an interesting subject!

Artistic Challenge: Black & White

How to achieve it? You can shoot in black & white mode, or convert it in post production. Be careful with your framing however, as a lack of colour forces the the viewer focus on the composition.
