As you can see in the graph, on 12% of a photographer’s time is spent actually taking photographs. The rest of the time is spent editing, advertising, and general business duties.

13,000+ iPhone applications are downloaded.
Can you imagine these statistics over the period of a day, or week?

The Decline of Film

NPR published an article that shows just how far film has fallen from grace.

At the turn of the 21st century, American shutterbugs were buying close to a billion rolls of film per year. This year, they might buy a mere 20 million, plus 31 million single-use cameras – NPR

I don’t think film will ever be totally removed from the market, but it’s certainly becoming a niche area of photography.

iPhone4 to Become Flickr's Top Camera

Despite only being on the market for a few months, the iPhone4 is on it’s way to being the most used camera for photographs submitted to flickr. It also appears that point & shoot camera owners are rapidly declining, as show by the graph below. Perhaps not very surprising considering the increasing capabilities of Smart Phones these days, as well as the fact, they are mutli-purpose devices (phone, audio, camera).
